Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that out-of-favour Manchester United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak will be allowed to leave the club when his contract expires in the summer.

Kuszczak, 29, moved from West Bromich Albion to United in August 2006 but has spent most of his Old Trafford career as back-up for Edwin van der Sar until the Dutch veteran retired last summer.

Now, the Polish shot-stopper has fallen behind new signing David de Gea and Anders Lindegaard in the United pecking order – and Ferguson has confirmed he is set to quit Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Quote:“We have Tomasz Kuszczak but his contract is up in the summer and he doesn’t want to sign another,”

Ferguson told United’s website.

Quote:“He wants to go and get regular football, but he’s been out of the picture for the last two months really so it makes it difficult for him to come back into the fold. He’s a very good goalkeeper.”

Ferguson opted to start Ben Amos ahead of Kuszczak as United beat Stoke City 2-0 at Old Trafford on Tuesday night, but the United boss admits that the 21-year-old will be unlikely to feature against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Quote:“Ben did very well the other night,” Ferguson added. “He’s had his opportunities in the League Cup and played against Valencia the previous season.

“He’s had a little bit of experience but not the kind of experience you’d expect going into a game like the one at Stamford Bridge. But that’s something we’ll make a decision on later.”

We all saw Paul Pogba make his 1st team debut against Stoke this week and I for one, was very impressed with what I saw. He had a desire for the ball and showed great strength and at the same time, a great touch.

The only concern is that he isn't tied to a contract and I think his current contract runs out in the summer? However,

Quote:Sir Alex Ferguson remains confident that highly-rated midfielder Paul Pogba will pen a contract extension at Manchester United.

The 18-year-old's future has been the subject of heated debate this season, with his current deal at Old Trafford running down.

He is held in high regard by United, but they have been unable to get him to agree fresh terms.

That has alerted the likes of Juventus to his potential availability, with the Serie A giants one of a number of clubs said to be closely monitoring his situation.

Ferguson is aware of the speculation, but is adamant that no-one at Old Trafford is concerned by it.

He says Pogba, who was handed his Premier League debut in Tuesday's 2-0 victory over Stoke, has indicated that he would like to stay and it is now just a matter of putting the relevant paperwork in place.

Ferguson, who saw Ravel Morrison head for West Ham on deadline day after failing to agree an extension to his deal with the Red Devils, said: "Pogba did very well.

"The boy has great talent and tremendous physique for an 18-year-old. You can't believe it.

"We are negotiating his contract at the moment. It is a bit complicated at the moment because he has changed his agent a couple of times.

"But the boy wants to stay, that is obvious. Hopefully we can get it done soon."

So, fingers crossed, United will get the deal done. Really don't want to see another bright talent leave!

Manchester United have signed 19-year-old Swiss centre-back Frederic Veseli from local rivals Manchester City.

Veseli joined City from Lausanne Sport in 2008 and captained his country to victory at the 2009 Under-17 World Cup.

Quote:"I am very happy and it is an honour to sign for Manchester United," said Veseli, who featured on City's pre-season tour to the USA last summer.

"I can't wait to get started. I am looking forward to showing everybody what I can do on the pitch."

Veseli was a member of City's academy and will initially link up with the United reserve team.

Quote:"I am very thankful to [United manager] Sir Alex Ferguson for bringing me to such a great club," he added.

"Manchester United has a long history of younger players coming through and hopefully I can follow and do the same."

I caught a bit of a good debate on TalkSport this evening, following the 2 goals conceded on Saturday. Do United fans, let alone Sir Alex Ferguson, know who their first choice keeper is?

I don't. There are positives to be said for both main choices this season, but there are also negatives, too.

Lindegaard for me is the more proven keeper, but his distribution lets him down a little. He is more convincing and has a stronger presence in the area and with the air of height and power, looks like a keeper.

De Gea has shown superb athleticism and is a great shot stopper, but has shown he is also able to make what seem to the press and public, quite big howlers. His smaller frame makes him look like an easy target for big, powerful forwards, but he more than makes up for that with his excellent distribution.

Both will suffer when Sir Alex drops one for the other and I wonder if even he knows who is the 1st choice? I know De Gea has number 1 on his shirt....

Oh, and what about Tomasz Kuszczak? He really has become the forgotten man of Old Trafford. He was reported in the press as having angered Sir Alex with his "Treated like a Slave" report, but is festering at United.

So, who is our best keeper? Who really has what it takes to wear Van Der Sar's gloves?

I like to keep active on the forum and occasionally use the live streams to watch matches, too. Even when my (now) wife and I were in Mauritius for our wedding and honeymoon, I managed to visit the site and post a little bit.
The forum has grown pretty well, and the banter is always healthy and fun on the chatroom on match days.

Many papers are reporting today that Jose Mourinho is in line for the United job, when Sir Alex finally decides to call it a day, but will only become Manchester United’s manager this summer if Sir Alex Ferguson chooses to step aside for the self-anointed Special One.

Quote:Reports claim that Mourinho is ready to walk away as boss of Real Madrid despite his side being seven points clear of Barcelona in La Liga this season. But his apparent desire to leave the Bernabeu will not be something the Old Trafford hierarchy respond to unless Ferguson, 70, decides to retire. Ferguson is fond of Mourinho and, while there would be some concern among the United powerbrokers that he courts too much controversy, the Portuguese would be seen as someone who could all but guarantee continued success at the club. The only problem is the timescale. The 49-year-old was expected to remain in Madrid for another season or two, enabling Ferguson to satisfy his desire to remain manager long enough to win a third European Cup. Only recently he spoke of wanting to work for another three years. Ferguson, however, would have to step down sooner if he did not want to see Mourinho working elsewhere. United would be among the leading clubs Mourinho would see as his next move, with Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal all possibilities in the right circumstances.

There have been many names linked with United in the past, including Steve Bruce - who did reasonably well with smaller teams, but didn't win anything; Martin O'Neil - who replaced Bruce at Sunderland and of course, the Special One, Mourinho.

There is no denying his talent as a top flight manager, but would he stay at United for anywhere near as long as Sir Alex? Do we want to become a club that employs a manager for a couple of years and then change again, like Chelski and the dippers?

Ravel Morrison has stunned Manchester United by demanding £30,000 a week, despite the teenager making just three first-team appearances.

Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed his exasperation with the talented but troubled 18-year-old, describing his demands as 'unrealistic'.

Sportsmail understands United have offered Morrison £12,000 a week - an amazing salary for someone so young - and while the player has denied rejecting a new offer, there is now understood to be an impasse. It is not clear if the £30,000-aweek demand includes bonuses.

But talks with Morrison's advisers have gone so badly United have reached a position where they would be prepared to let him go, even though he is rated the best player to come through the club's academy in years.

His agent has denied making these demands.

Ask about Morrison on Friday morning, Ferguson said: 'I have nothing to say about that. It is nothing to do with a game against Arsenal.'

From Longsight in Manchester, Morrison was the star of United's FA Youth Cup-winning team and has been branded the new Paul Scholes.

But his short career has already been tainted by a series of disciplinary problems - from using his mobile phone on the bench during a reserve game to more serious issues with the police. Among them was a caution for assaulting his mother and he has been urged to seek counselling.

Such is his talent, Ferguson would like to see him remain at United. But he has disrespected coaching staff on Twitter, even provoking a response from Wayne Rooney when he said he could not wait for the season to end. Rooney suggested he could be gone before then.

Ferguson has said he believes Morrison's representatives are already looking for another club and Newcastle have expressed an interest.

On Twitter yesterday, Morrison dismissed reports that Manchester City was another possible destination.

Such is his notoriety, though, that former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan took to Twitter this week to ask Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville if the teenager was any good.

Neville suggested Morrison was a 'huge talent' and Ferdinand enthused about his 'huge potential'. But the England defender summed up the dangers facing Morrison as he weighs up the possibility of a future away from United.

'I've told him what I think of him and what he needs to do to fulfil his potential,' said Ferdinand. 'It would be a big waste if it all goes ***s up.'

Two years ago Ferguson told a small gathering at a friend's birthday party that Morrison, then just 16, was the 'best I have ever seen at that age'.

It was a remarkable assessment, given the players that have come through the system at Old Trafford during his 25 years in charge.

Morrison's list of indiscretions is so long now that Ferguson is close to giving up on him. And one prominent reserve player moaned privately: 'Why do United fans worry about Ravel when he can't be bothered getting out of bed to go to training?'

David de Gea's erratic first season at Manchester United has taken place with the talented but error-prone goalkeeper suffering from an eyesight problem that may necessitate laser surgery at the end of the season.

De Gea, dropped from United's past three matches after making a succession of mistakes, is long-sighted and plays in contact lenses. United employ a full-time optometrist, based at their training ground, and the Spaniard has been recommended for treatment to restore his sight to normal as he tries to cut out the mistakes that have cost him his place as Sir Alex Ferguson's first-choice goalkeeper.

Having worn glasses for most of his life, De Gea was going to have laser surgery last March when he was at Atlético Madrid. At the time, however, the Atlético medical staff told him to wait at least another year because he needed a stable prescription.

United were aware of the issue when they signed him for £18.3m in the summer. De Gea has had regular check-ups since replacing Edwin van der Sar and held off the challenge of Anders Lindegaard until one mistake too many in the 3-2 home defeat against Blackburn Rovers on New Year's Eve.

De Gea has been at fault, to different degrees, for as many as six to nine goals in his first five months in the team and, though there have been times when his goalkeeping has been exceptional, his first season in England has been a difficult one. Whether there is any link to his vision is not clear, but wearers of contact lenses often find their eyesight is strained when watching football under artificial light, and the priority at Old Trafford is to make sure it is not even potentially a factor.

United still have high aspirations that De Gea, at 21, can demonstrate he was worth the money and become a great goalkeeper for the club.

The hope is that he can be booked in for laser treatment in June, when he could take advantage of the summer break to have the four-day period of rest that is advised. He is then expected to be selected for Spain's Olympics squad if, as expected, he misses out on Euro 2012 behind Iker Casillas, José Reina and Victor Valdés.
The Belgian joined Norwich on a season-long loan deal in the summer, however he has been plagued by injuries which have limited him to just six league appearances.

He last played for the Norfolk club on December 27 in their 2-0 defeat by Tottenham.

The 23-year-old has failed to make an impact at Old Trafford since signing from Stoke in January 2009, being sent on loan to Sheffield United, Preston and Portsmouth before the Canaries.

Norwich boss Paul Lambert told the club's official website: "Ritchie has gone back to Manchester United.

Since Thursday I have not been able to access Score Centre on skysports.com. Every time I try I get a white blank page. Tried opening it with 3 different browsers and still the same result. Any ideas what it could be? Cheers in advanced.

Quote:Everton are hoping to make Manchester United's Darron Gibson their first signing in the January transfer window.

Manager David Moyes has a limited transfer budget to work with despite selling Mikel Arteta to Arsenal for £10m last summer.

The 24-year-old Republic of Ireland midfielder would cost around £2m.

Gibson is down the pecking order at United and wants regular football to boost his chances of appearing for the Republic of Ireland at Euro 2012.

Moyes had said before Wednesday's 2 -0 defeat at Tottenham he was unlikely to see any of the Arteta transfer cash because it went to the club's bankers.

Everton had to pay £1.2m of the Arteta cash to his former club Real Sociedad while it is understood around £2m has been spent on new contracts and deals such as the one which brought Landon Donovan back to Goodison Park from LA Galaxy for a short loan spell.

He would probably do well at a 'smaller' club. Lethal shot on him, but hasn't really offered much else. Maybe £2m would be a little on the cheap side, though?

The deal to re-sign Donovan was set up before the window opened and Moyes has yet to make any additions to his squad since the start of January.

Moyes is hoping to persuade Gibson to make the switch to Everton after a proposed summer move to Sunderland broke down over personal terms.

The Toffees boss had been hoping to sign a striker in January but may need to pay more attention to central defence, with England international Phil Jagielka out for six weeks with a knee injury and Sylvain Distin suffering a hamstring injury at White Hart Lane.
